The Hops and Harvest Festival originally started as a local beer festival over 30 years ago and it has been ever popular and steeped in tradition and seen a lot of changes along the way.  For 2017 we are growing the event even further in a creative and fun way and will be welcoming over 15,000 people to Kent Life over the weekend, including festival-goers, music artists, performers, sponsors, stall holders and traders and of course all the festival family helping to make it happen!

Taking everything that was great about the original Beer Festival with all the Kentish Ales, Ciders, local produce, hop picking and community activity and adding to it a bigger live music and creative programme, with new stages, workshops, talks, storytelling, new venues and some fantastic new entertainment all round, together with some truly special VIP experiences.

Main stage

This year Starsailor will be headlining the Main Stage on Saturday, supported by The Hoosiers and then Newton Faulkner on the Sunday supported by Toploader, “Dancing in the moonlight” of course! With 100 other artists, bands and creative performances over the weekend on all stages and venues- check out the truly superb mix of live music and creative performances on the line up that will make this a very special weekend!

Big Top

For 2017 the Big Top is within the Live and Local Arena and will be hosting an eclectic mix of music and creative programming with artists, bands and performers drawn from far and wide!  With more than 30 performances scheduled for the Big Top this a venue not to be missed, so get down and listen to a host of credible musicians on the up and coming circuit mixed in with a few notable surprises.  Be there!

Secret Garden

The Secret Garden plays host to a superb line up of Singer Songwriters.  With the Songbird Sessions running from midday through to early evening you can sit back, kick off your shoes and take in the sweet, sweet sounds of a summers days.

Bohemian Woods

The Bohemian Woods is the perfect place to escape all the hub-bub of the festival.  Come inside to ‘Wish Upon a Star‘ and make a wish, write it down, tie it to the wishing trees and sprinkle a tad of fairy dust as you make it come true – of course!.  Relax and stretch out on the rugs and hammocks as you soak up the idyllic atmosphere of the festival with family, friends and frogletts, still taking a little time out.  It’s the perfect place to sit down with kindred spirits, sip your ice cold juice, Pimms or real Kentish Ales and Ciders, enjoy the moment and the roving performers before you take a wander around the rest of this beautiful site and find other things to tempt you.

By day saunter through the woods, take a seat and enjoy the sunshine on your face, by night plot your way through the paths and trees lit by glowing fairy lights and lanterns.


For 2017 The Wagon Store is being transformed and will host ‘The Hipshaker Lounge’ and will be filled with vintage sounds on all original vinyl from some of the best collections in the land, played by awesome DJs with pure passion for the music playing the finest sixties, funk, soul, jazz, rock, r’n’b, motown and a mix of special guests covering so much more! All decorated out in true Hipshaker style. 

A living tribute to the 60’s, a retro vibe, well-stocked bar, and a themed cocktail or two served by fun and friendly staff will all take you back in time to pay homage to the days of the original 60’s with soul and keep the dance floor filled!  A natural meeting place by day and pure music through your soul by night! The perfect place to “blow the bloody doors off”

The Zebra Bar and Champagne Garden

The Zebra Bar and Champagne Garden is nestled in the middle of the Hipshaker & Cabaret Noir. A tad ‘over the top’ we know; but we love it and where else can you get that perfectly chilled glass of champagne!  With the seating in the great outdoors you can take in the sweet sounds from everything going on around you. You won’t be far from anywhere whilst in The Zebra Bar and Champagne Garden but it will feel like another place altogether!  

Enjoy that glass of champagne or go all out and have a bottle; make it a vintage marque or a perfectly chilled champagne cocktail; there’s so many to choose from in this elegant bar under the Pagoda.  Soak up the end of the summer rays and lounge in the garden, watching the rest of the festival-goers wander by.

Cabaret Noir | VIP Upgrade

A delightfully decadent venue; with fantastical décor.  Cabaret Noir is hosting an awesome programme of events with everything from magicians, burlesque, comedy and the fabulous Beats and Swing team with their dancers and entertainers.  The most exclusive venue on site  with your very own dedicated bar and ‘attended’ ladies and gents facilities, so no ‘festival loo fears’ for you!  With phone charging facilities and fast-track entry, what more could you wish for.

The School House

Well, whether you loved or loathed it whilst you were there – we’re sure you’ll love our School House.  We’ve got everything from bracelet making and bead threading, cardboard city, paint a pot, live art, grafitti gangs and a whole lot more, with most of it FREE!  Come along and get creative with your kids, your mates, your Mum!  It’s gonna be fun – you can even bring your beers in!  (Oooh my teacher wouldn’t like that!)
